tea time chats

A library of honest community conversations for brick and mortar shop owners. Real talk from real owners navigating the same seasons, sharing what's working and what isn't, and a window into working with me in 1:1 and/or group settings.

In this month's Buds & Business Tea Time Chat, we explored the natural cycles that shape both business and life. Instead of seeing slower seasons as failure, we looked at them through the lens of the seasons, the 7–10 year Juglar business cycle, and the rhythms that exist beneath our culture's constant push for growth.

We also talked about nervous system capacity, why sustainable expansion requires both release and rest, and how creating coherence means working with life's cycles rather than against them. The conversation closed with a Q&A around navigating uncertainty, making aligned business decisions, and honoring the season you're actually in.

I led a discussion on business cycles and shared my experience with the ups and downs of running a retail store over the past 20+ years. I explained how businesses go through approximately 7-10 year cycles similar to natural seasons, and discussed how my store has weathered multiple paradigm shifts in the retail industry. I emphasized the importance of recognizing when a business is in a contraction phase and using those periods for recalibration rather than forcing growth. I also shared how my current business is adapting by focusing on events and creating a cozy, sanctuary-like atmosphere, and invited others to share their experiences in the discussion.
